He recalls when he was in Japanese-occupied China and encountered Imperial soldiers threatening an aged teacher and a young American wielding a staff. Logan's valor in defending the pair impressed Captain Ogun, who offered to teach Logan martial arts.

As the fight between Logan and the mime continues, Ororo Monroe and Jean Grey, arriving for a visit, join the fray. The entity possesses Jean, allowing the mime to escape. Jean repels the spirit, which then takes over Helen Bach's mind.
